Short “Turning the Tides” Theory
I wrote a theory on episodes ten through twelve last weekend, and based on the new clips we’ve gotten, I’d like to make a few minor revisions to it. Read that first if you want this to make sense, please!
I originally assumed that Korra would be heading to the Southern Water Tribe for some reason involving an information hunt, but now that we know Air Temple Island is getting raided by chiblockers in this episode, I’m going to revise that and say that she flees to her home to escape Amon’s initial attack at the urging of her friends, who may or may not come with her.
The battle in the finale, which I thought would be defensive on United Republic’s end and offensive on the Equalists’ end, is actually the opposite. Amon will take over the city in THIS episode, and the finale battle will be an attempt to reclaim it, with Korra aiding in the attack. The rest of my theory from that point on still stands, though the Air Temple Island scenes may be much earlier.
That’s all! Thanks for reading.

Breaking Free of Bloodbending: An Analysis on Amon
Thus far in ATLA and LOK, we’ve seen people escape from bloodbending three times - Katara in The Puppetmaster, and both Aang and Amon in Out of the Past. From these times, we can conclude that there are at least two confirmed ways to escape the hold of a bloodbender.
Note: this is written in support of the theory I wrote last night, so it’s probably a good idea to read that first.

remember when an anon asked me this
FUCK MY THEORY, GUYS. THIS PERSON KNEW WHAT WAS UP.
My only problem with the Tarrlok theory is that i think he is somewhat related to Amon, don't you think so?

Anonymous
Honestly, I don’t! I can’t find a motive.
Tarrlok is enthusiastic about using his bending abilities to gain power for himself, something Amon is adamantly against. The two of them represent completely different ideologies (two extremes, dohoho) and want entirely different things, even if they have similar methods. Just because they’re both villains doesn’t mean they’re on the same side. I can’t think of a reason for them to be working together.
Unless you have a theory about how they could be connected? I’d love to hear it if you do!
An Analysis of the Flashbacks
As of this morning’s episode, I think I’ve been able to piece together what happened 42 years prior to the events of The Legend of Korra.

Theory Post: Amon’s Real Identity
Of course, we all know that a great deal of information was revealed in yesterday’s episode, and several gamechanging events occurred. Most of the major characters’ lives are now irrevocably changed.
But hidden amongst Lin’s resignation, Hiroshi’s real motives, and Asami’s complete badassery, I found a devilishly hidden piece of info that may give us our first solid clue into Amon and his past.

Speculation for “The Aftermath” and beyond
Based on the events of “And the Winner Is…”, the new clip, and the TV Guide summary; as well as the six unexplained scenes left from the trailers and the Republic City game.
Given that the title of the episode is “The Aftermath”, it’s almost certain that the primary plot will concern the main characters reacting to Amon’s attack on the arena, in various ways.

“I believe I have your attention, benders of Republic City.
So once again, the Wolfbats are your pro-bending champions. It seems fitting that you celebrate three bullies who cheated their way to victory, because every day you threaten and abuse your fellow non-bending citizens, just like the Wolfbats did to their opponents tonight. Those men were supposedly the best in the bending world, and yet it only took a few moments for me to cleanse them of their impurity. Let this be a warning to all of you benders out there. If any of you stand in my way, you will meet the same fate.
Now, to my followers. For years, the Equalists have been forced to hide in the shadows… but now, we have the numbers and the strength to create a new Republic City! I’m happy to tell you that the time for change has finally come. Very soon, the current tyrannical bending regime will be replaced by a fair-minded Equalist government. You and your children will no longer have to walk the streets afraid! It’s time to take back our city!
For centuries, benders have possessed an unnatural advantage over ordinary people. But thankfully, modern technology has provided us with a way to even out the playing field. Now anyone can hold the power of a chiblocker in their hand. My followers and I will not rest until the entire city achieves equality. And once that goal is achieved, we will equalize the rest of the world!
The revolution has begun!”
