Theory Post: Amon’s Real Identity
Of course, we all know that a great deal of information was revealed in yesterday’s episode, and several gamechanging events occurred. Most of the major characters’ lives are now irrevocably changed.
But hidden amongst Lin’s resignation, Hiroshi’s real motives, and Asami’s complete badassery, I found a devilishly hidden piece of info that may give us our first solid clue into Amon and his past.
Amon’s Master Plan
I’ve been doing some pretty intense thinking about what Amon’s potential goals are, lately - particularly during the times when I’m supposed to be doing work for school - and I think I might have come up with a reasonable theory.
The first time we saw Amon in the show, he was telling the Lieutenant that it was time to “accelerate [their] plans”. We know that he has a strategy, and as of “A Voice in the Night”, we know it ends with him personally taking down the Avatar. But while most people have guessed that he has some kind of massive plan to remove bending abilities from every person on the planet, my idea is different.
This is a post about Amon.
Amon claims he got his powers from the spirits. Propaganda, right?
What if it isn’t?
What if he actually was visited by some discontent spirits? What if Korra doesn’t just have to bring balance to the human world, but the Spirit World too? After all, the Avatar is supposed to serve both… maybe the spirits are divided because humans have drifted too far from them. Maybe some of them think the only way to reassert themselves over humanity is to render them helpless without bending.
What if the reason Amon is only a Season One villain is because the Season 2 villains ARE THE SPIRITS THEMSELVES?!

Sato Family Information/Speculation
So as I’m pretty sure we all know by now, we got some art and info on the mysterious Asami (first mentioned on the original VA list) today. And as it turns out, she’s related to, and the presumed daughter of, the just-as-mysterious Hiroshi Sato.
